Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals edged out the Queen City Cutthroats 4-2 tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. The score was tight for the duration of the game, but in the end the Generals fire power was just too much for Queen City to overcome. “Our boys played hard tonight, but there’s still room for improvement,” Assistant Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We’re happy with our team’s effort, and we’ll take the 4 points from this weekend.”
The only goal in the first two periods came 1:30 into the game when Joe Myers and Garrett Bossert assisted Michael Frei. The Generals put another one in the net when Kris Kranzky buried a short handed goal 7:31 into the third period. Two minutes later Joe Myers and Matt Vasilie assisted Ryan Schank to put the Generals up 3-0. Queen City wouldn’t quit, however, as Jon Shruga and Ryan Gordon each added a goal to make the game 3-2. The Generals put the final nail in the coffin when Michael Frei scored on the empty net with two seconds left in the game.
The Generals will travel to Tri-City to face the Titans next weekend. For more information on upcoming Generals games please visit www.eugenegenerals.com.
