Remaining Generals Take Care of Business

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals, despite playing without five of their top scorers, toppled the River City Jaguars 4-1 tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. For the first time since they played Kent, the Generals went ahead early, and maintained the lead for the entire game. “I’m happy that the guys stepped up tonight to fill the void of our top guns tonight,” Generals Coach Chris Hartly stated. “Their play tonight speaks for the quality of players we have here.”

Lucas Romero, in his first game for the Generals, assisted Eric Kroll, for his first goal of the season, to give the Generals the early lead 3:30 into the first period. That was all the scoring for the first period, but the second period saw much more action. The Generals struck first in the second period when Matt Vasilie assisted Trevor Johnson 5:27 into the period. Kevin Crawford would get onto the board 14:51 into the second, with Trevor Johnson and Larry Dankenbring both assisting on the goal. A minute and a half later Cameron Zimick and Chris Orlowsky assisted Brad Meyers for the Generals fourth, and final, goal.

It was a challenging game for the Generals, but it was an even more challenging game for Brad Meyers. This was the first game for Meyers against the River City Jaguars since the passing of his good friend, and Jaguar defenseman, John Medina. “It was really weird not seeing John out there,” Meyers said. “I had to go out there and do my job. I know that’s what he would want me to do.”

The game tomorrow against River City will be broadcast live on GiTV at 7:35 on For more information on upcoming Generals games please visit
