Chuck Kennedy, Head Coach

Chuck is entering his second year with the Generals organization. During his first with the Generals they finished the season with 23 wins and 25 losses, in which they placed third place in the Pacific Division of NorPac. Chuck was selected to coach one of the Best of the Rest all-star teams at the Tier 3 Junior Nationals in Rochester, MN and recently was selected as the Oregon Hockey Representative for the evaluation of the USA Hockey Pacific District U16 and U17 Selects. Chuck has coached at a variety of different levels of travel and high school hockey over the past 17 years. In his final year of coaching at Lakeland High School his team won the North Division KLAA championship and three of his players received all-state honors. Chuck is originally from Coon Rapids, MN where he played travel hockey and High School hockey at Coon Rapids High School, graduating in 1982.

Ryan Bond, Assistant Coach

This will be Ryan's first year as Assistant Coach with the Generals. Ryan comes to the Generals after playing two years of Pro-Hockey in the AAHL with the Battle Creek Revolution. Prior to his pro playing days Ryan played college hockey at Lindenwood University on the ACHA D1 Team that won the 2008-2009 National Championship. Ryan played his junior hockey in the CSHL for the Toledo Cherokee and the Traverse City Northstars in the NAHL. Ryan, plays both forward and defense and is a native of Northville, MI where he played youth hockey in both the Little Caesars and Compuware AAA programs. Ryan will be primarily responsible for coaching the forwards with his focus on individual skill development.

Ryan is also an accomplished roller hockey player currently playing for the Pittsburgh Bandits Pro In-line team. Ryan is a member of the 2010 Men’s Inline Hockey Team who just won the gold medal at the 2010 FIRS Inline Hockey World Championship in Beroun, Czech Republic, on July 12-17, 2010. Ryan was also been a member on men’s junior world team for 3 years. Ryan hopes to continue his roller hockey this month as he competes for a spot on the USA National again this year.

Brent Seidel, Assistant Coach & Goaltending Consultant

This will be Brent's second year as Assistant Coach with the Generals. A goalie, he will also be the in charge of goaltending development for the franchise. Brent played with the Generals in 2005-06 where the Generals went to the Finals of the Cascase Cup. He posted a .899 save percentage and a 3.26 goals against average both among the top of the league for that season. After Juniors, Brent attended Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA and played Division II Club hockey where lead the team to a 3rd place National standing in his freshman year. He also won MVP honors for the West Division in his junior year.

Brent majored in Community Health and plans to start a long term coaching career with the hope of one day landing a college coaching job. Brent also works with the Jamie Store Goaltending Camp, Pac West Goaltending Camp, and with SAYHA (Spokane Amateur Youth Hockey Association), as a goaltending instructor for the past seven years.

Chantelle Russell, Strength and Conditioning Coach

Chantelle will be personally working with the players at the gym and during dryland to improve their strength and conditioning for the rigorous season. Chantelle grew up playing in Sarnia, Ontario on local travel teams and continued her minor hockey days traveling in Michigan to play in a Detroit league. She played four years at the University of Findlay, in Ohio – a Division 1 program. Since graduation she has continued to play recreationally and competed competitively in Nationals with a Michigan team.

Russell has a Bachelor of Science degree in Strength and Conditioning and Associate degree in Personal Training from the University of Findlay. She received her master’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration from Central Michigan University. Russell is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer and AFAA/Schwinn certified group fitness instructor. She was a coach at Kent State Hockey schools for 4 years, acting as the coordinator of off-ice training, and has worked with several youth hockey teams with off-ice conditioning as well as university athletic programs. Russell is currently the Assistant Director of Fitness at the University of Oregon.

Michele Friesen, Yoga and Mental Strength Coach

Michele served as the Yoga coach for the Generals last season working with the players on strength, flexibility and mental focus.
