Generals Look to Get Two on the Road
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals head to Pasco, WA this weekend to finish their best-of-five Pacific Division Semi-Final match-up against the Tri-City Titans at The TRAC. The Generals hope to take their momentum from last Saturday’s 4-3 win into Pasco and finish off the Titans by winning two games on their ice. Tomorrow night’s game will be of vast importance as the winner will only have to win one more game instead of two in a row to win the series. After tomorrow night’s game, the Generals will play Saturday night and Sunday afternoon if necessary.
“Tomorrow night’s game is probably the most important game of the season,” Generals Head Coach Chris Hartly stated. “We have a chance to go up 2-1 and take control of the series. Tri-City will be looking to do the same and hope to get the advantage on their home ice. We just need to play smart and leave everything we have on the ice. If we can do that, we have a great chance to move on the Conference Finals.”
The Generals and Titans have been evenly matched all season with each team winning 5 games a piece, including playoffs, and both teams have been able to get wins on the road. Each team has had at least a two goal lead after the first period in the two games of the Pacific Division Semi-finals, but have given up four goals in the second period to come up with the loss. The strategy for this weekend’s games might be to not score first if they are anything like last weekend’s games.
The Generals were able to hold the high powered line of Jared Darby, Damon Hollandsworth, and Brandon Turley to just two goals in the first two games, including a scoreless game 1, even though the Generals came up with the loss. The Generals will have to continue to hold them in check if they hope to win the series and move on to face the Seattle Totems in the Conference Finals next week. The Generals have also had a tough time all season of playing a full 60 minutes of hockey. If the Generals can put the first period of game 1 and the last two periods of game 2 into a complete game the Titans will have a tough time stopping the Generals from making their third consecutive appearance in the Pacific Division Finals.
The games this Friday and Saturday will be at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. If necessary, game five will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
