Generals Sweep Lakers
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (25-9) came out strong tonight to complete the season sweep of the Coeur d’Alene Lakers (5-31) with a 5-1 victory tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals played a lot more physical tonight compared to last nights contest and were able to come out on top. The Generals were finally back to full strength tonight after five players served their suspensions from the River City contest which attributed to their physical play.
“I’m much happier tonight with our team’s performance,” Generals head coach Chris Hartly stated. “Although the score doesn’t show it, we did play a more complete game tonight than we did last night.”
Trevor McCarty was able to get his first goal of his Junior career to put the Generals on the board first. Kyle Mills put up the second goal for the Generals to give them the 2-0 lead with 11 seconds left in the first period. Keddy Malcolm got his second goal of the season to give the Generals a 3-0 lead early in the second period, but the Lakers were able to cut into that lead with a goal a little over a minute later. That would be the Lakers only score on the night, however.
Tyler Tymchuk and Steven Slattery were the other two goal scores on the night, both goals coming in the third period. They each also ended up with an assist on the game to end the game with two points a piece. Generals captain Justin Adams lead the way in scoring on the night with three assists.
The Generals will head down to Medford on Thursday to try and attempt the season sweep of the Rogue Valley Wranglers. The game will be broadcast on GiTV at 6:45 PM in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
