Generals Acquire Fender and Reiber for Lewis and Blake

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (11-6) acquired Duston Fender and Robert Reiber from the Rogue Valley Wranglers (0-18) for Clayton Lewis and Tom Blake earlier today. The trade is the second deal between the Generals and Wranglers this season. The Generals traded Kyle Bicksler to the Wranglers prior to the season.

“Fender and Reiber should give our lineup a fresh look,” Generals Assistant Coach Jay Miller stated. “Both of the guys are young, and have a lot of untapped talent. I expect that they’ll contribute from the get go.”

Duston Fender is a 6-0 150 lb. forward who was fifth on the Wranglers with nine points in seventeen games played. Robert Reiber is 5-10 160 lb. forward who ranked thirteenth on the Wranglers with two points, but was sidelined early in the season with an injury. In turn the Generals lost their seventh leading scorer in Clayton Lewis, and Tom Blake who had yet to play a game with the Generals. Generals veteran Joe Myers returned to the team as well Tuesday after a stint with the Dover Seawolves in the America East Hockey League where he posted 34 points in 18 games.

“I’m excited for the new start,” Fender stated. “Hopefully I have a better opportunity this season with Eugene. I’m really excited about playing against the Wranglers. I feel like I have something to prove against them.”

Reiber added, “I’m excited about being able to expand my opportunities. I think I’ll have a better chance at growing as a hockey player here with the Generals.”

Fender and Reiber will face their former team this Friday and Saturday at 7:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice when the Generals host the Wranglers. Saturday is Military Appreciation Night presented by the US ARMY. Admission is free with military id. The games will be broadcast on GiTV.
