Eight Straight for Surging Generals

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (8-3) won their eighth game in a row tonight; defeating the Coeur d’Alene Lakers (0-11) 8-1 in the process. The Generals tied the longest winning streak in team history tonight, and did so without Head Coach Chris Hartly. The Generals will have a chance to break the franchise record this Friday at 7:35 PM against the Tri-City Titans (8-3) for the 3rd Annual Eugene Generals Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Prime Med Medical Clinic. The win tonight also catapulted the Generals ahead of the River City Jaguars (7-4) and into a tie for second place in the NORPAC Pacific Division.

“I’m proud of our boys for their ability to keep focus and concentrate on the game-plan tonight,” Generals interim Head Coach Jay Miller stated. “It makes our job easy when they can put up a game like that in the face of adversity. If we keep playing like we’re playing now this weekend should be very exciting to watch.”

Five different Generals had multiple point nights against the Lakers. Tyler Tymchuk led the way for the Generals with a hat trick. Sean O’Connor, Ian Evans and Justin Adams each had a goal and an assist. Brendan Elkins also had two assists on the night. Generals goaltender Dylan Woodring was also able to save 28 of the 29 shots he faced, and continues to prove that he is up to the challenge every time he steps onto the ice.

The Generals were able to score two shorthanded goals in the contest and now have six on the season, which leads NORPAC. They killed all eight man down situations, and have moved into third in NORPAC with a 88.50 penalty killing percentage.

The Generals will host the Tri-City Titans this Friday and Saturday at 7:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice. Friday is the 3rd Annual Eugene Generals Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Prime Med Medical Clinic, and the jersey auction is currently running on eBay. The games this weekend will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games, special event nights, the jersey auction or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
