Chinarian's Blast Gives Generals OT Victory

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (36-10) played their third OT game of the season against the Tri-City Titans (23-23) this afternoon at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals trailed for much of the game, but were able to come back for the 3-2 OT win. The Generals have played four OT games total, and 2-2 (2-1 against Tri-City) in OT games this season.

“We played incredibly well in the third period, and we carried that momentum into overtime,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “Tri-City is a tough opponent, and we’ll have to come with a lot more if we want to beat them in the playoffs.”

The Titans were able to get on the board early in the first period to give them a 1-0 lead. The Generals were able to knot things up at one 16:46 into the frame when Christian Merritt assisted Brad Main on the power play. The Titans were able to regain their lead in the second period with a shorthanded goal.

The Generals would even things up 15:25 into the third when Brad Main and Connor Bambico assisted Neil Holder. The third period ended with a tie, but it didn’t take long for the Generals to get on the board in OT. Just 14 seconds into the OT Arram Chinarian blasted a slap shot from the right side of the net to end the game.

The Titans will be the Generals first round opponent in the 2010 NORPAC Playoffs. This will be the third time in five seasons that the Generals will have faced the Titans in the playoffs. The Generals are 1-1 in the playoff series’. The Generals defeated the Titans in the 2006 Pacific Division Finals series, and the Titans defeated the Generals in the 2008 Pacific Division Semi-Finals.
