Generals to Have Final Three Game Weekend

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (33-10) will have their final three game weekend of the NORPAC 2009/10 Regular season this weekend when the travel to Medford, OR to face the Rogue Valley Wranglers (7-36) tomorrow, then head back up to Eugene for two games against the Tri-City Titans (33-10). When this weekend is concluded the Generals will have played six consecutive three game weekends.

“This stretch has been both mentally and physically tough on our guys,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated. “We just have one more three game weekend to go, and we’ll get a two game weekend before playoffs start. We probably played our most complete game the last time we were out there on the ice, and we have to carry that over to this weekend.”

The Generals are currently 6-0 against the Wranglers this season, but the Wranglers have played the Generals tough in their last two match-ups. In their last two meetings the Generals came away with a two goal victory and a one goal victory. Those games were the closest the Wranglers have ever come to beating the Generals. To put the games in perspective, three games ago the Generals shellacked the Wranglers 18-2. The Wranglers have picked up a few new players and are a much stronger team now.

The Generals and the Titans have battled all season long. The Generals lead the season series 5-2, but five of those games were decided by two goals or fewer. The Titans have taken the Generals to two of their three OT games this season. The Generals fell 5-4 in their first OT game, but were able to come away with their first shootout victory in over two seasons.

The Generals and Titans will likely see each other in the first round of the playoffs as well. If the two teams meet in the first round it will be the third time in five seasons that the two teams have met in post-season play. The Generals were able to come away with the first series, but the Titans came out on top in their most recent post-season meeting two seasons ago.

The game tomorrow against the Wranglers at 7:00 PM will be broadcast in audio only on EGHN. The game on Friday against the Titans at 7:35 PM, and the game against the Titans on Saturday at 4:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice will be broadcast on EGHN.
