Generals Topped by Totems

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (31-7) were defeated 5-2 by the Seattle Totems (31-8) at Lane Events Center-Ice for Hockey Weekend Across America. The Generals and Totems are now tied at four games a piece in the nine game season series, and are tied at the top of the NORPAC Pacific Division. The winner of tomorrow night’s Hockey Weekend Across America match-up will control their own destiny for the number one seed in the playoffs.

“We can’t win hockey games when we come out like we did in the first period,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “Seattle capitalized on every opportunity we gave them in the first period, and they put the game out of reach. I believe we outplayed them for the final 42 minutes, but it just wasn’t enough to get us back into the game.”

The Totems scored five unanswered goals in the first period before Blake Bishop assisted Eric Watters on the power play 18:08 into the first. There would be no scoring in the second period, and for the most part of the third period, but 14:09 into the third Kyler Zimick assisted Brad Main to make it a three goal game.

The Generals will face the Totems tomorrow night at Lane Events Center-Ice at 7:35 PM for Hockey Weekend Across America, and they will travel to Kennewick, WA on Sunday for a 3:00 PM game against the Tri-City Titans. The game tomorrow will be broadcast on EGHN, and the game on Sunday will be broadcast on EGHN in audio only.
