Generals Take Down Tomahawks
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (21-3) were able to defeat the Puget Sound Tomahawks (8-16) 5-1 tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice in their final game before the half-way point in the NORPAC Regular Season. The Generals now have a franchise best record heading into the second half of the season.
“We played our best hockey of the season in the first period tonight,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “If we can play like that for three periods it will be tough for anyone to beat us. However, we have yet to put three periods of that hockey together. Our goal tomorrow will be to do just that.”
The Generals were able to outshoot the Tomahawks 2-1 tonight, and were also strong on special teams. The Generals scored on two of five power play opportunities, and they didn’t allow a goal on the five Puget Sound power play opportunities.
Kyle Kennedy scored his first goal of the season 0:41 into the first period to give the Generals a 1-0 lead. Sean Park and Ryan Crow had assists on the play. The Generals would make it 2-0 7:39 into the first when Brad Main and Christian Merritt assisted Ryan McDonald. The Generals would take a 3 goal lead 14:21 into the first on the power play when Neil Holder and Sean Park assisted Connor Bambico for his first goal of the season.
The Tomahawks would make it a two goal game 7:55 into the second, but the Generals would make it a 3 goal game again 17:47 into the period when Blake Bishop and Ryan McDonald assisted Brad Main on the power play. The Generals would get their fifth and final goal 11:30 into the third when Neil Holder assisted Eric Watters.
The Generals will host the Tomahawks again tomorrow at 7:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice, and the game will be simulcast on EGHN and INFO 1320.
