Generals Upend Rogue Valley 10-1
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (11-3) scored 10 unanswered goals in the second and third period to defeat the Rogue Valley Wranglers (2-12) 10-1 tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals trailed the Wranglers 1-0 heading into the second period, but the Generals were able to put up four goals in the second and six in the third.
“I’m very happy to get these two points,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated. “We got down early, and couldn’t finish in the first period. The boys just put their heads down, and finished the game strong. We need to play every game like we played the second and third tonight. Right now we need to focus on the Wranglers for tomorrow night, and hopefully play a full 60 minutes.”
The Generals allowed fewer and fewer shots as the game went on. The Generals allowed 9 shots in the first period, 5 shots in the second period, and only 3 shots in the third period. Generals goaltender Dylan Woodring saved 16 of the Wranglers 17 shots, and he recorded his fifth assist of the season. The Generals allowed 1 goal on 7 Rogue Valley power play opportunities, and were able to capitalize on 4 of 8 of their own power play opportunities.
Eight Generals had multiple point nights. Neil Holder, Eric Watters and Ryan McDonald each had two goals and an assist. Peter Mingus had two goals on the night. Mat Topolewski had a goal and an assist. Blake Bishop, Ray Frianeza and Brad Main each had two assists. Ian Evans scored a goal in the contest, and Ryan Crow, Connor Bambico, Christian Merritt and Jordan Blake-Jones had assists.
The Generals will face Rogue Valley tomorrow night in Medford, OR at 8:00 PM. The game will be broadcast in audio only on EGHN. For more information on upcoming games or EGHN please visit eugenegenerals.com.
