Generals Top Totems 2-1
Mountlake Terrace, WA – The Eugene Generals (10-2) topped the Seattle Totems (9-4) last night 2-1 at Olympic View Ice Arena in the Generals first trip to Seattle this weekend. The Generals are now 3-1 against the Totems this season, and they have now taken sole possession of first place in the NORPAC Pacific Division.
"Every time we play Seattle it is a battle, and tonight was no different," Generals head coach Jay Miller stated after the contest. "We played solid defensively, and we were able to capitalize on a few of the opportunities Seattle gave us. Dylan [Woodring] stood on his head in net as well, and when our goaltender can do that he will give us a chance to win. We have to put last night's win behind us and focus on tonight, because Seattle is sure to come out firing."
The Generals were out shot 38-36 in the game, but were able to come away with the victory in the end. The Generals were able to capitalize on 2 of their 13 power play opportunities, and were able to stop Seattle on all of their power play opportunities.
The Generals were able to get on the board first 11:06 into the first period when Ryan McDonald scored an unassisted power play goal. The Generals took a 2-0 lead 16:22 into the second period when McDonald assisted Blake Bishop for the Generals second power play goal of the evening. The Totems were able to get on the board in the third period, but the Generals were able to hold off the Totems in the end.
The Generals will face Seattle tonight at Olympic View Ice Arena at 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcast in audio only on EGHN. For more information on upcoming games or EGHN please visit eugenegenerals.com.
