Generals to do Battle in Seattle
Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals (9-2) will travel to Mountlake Terrace, WA this weekend to face the Seattle Totems (9-3) for first place in the NORPAC Pacific Division. The Generals and Totems are tied atop the Pacific Division standings at 18 points a piece, but the Generals hold the head-to-head tiebreaker (2-1).
All three games in the series have been played in Eugene, and these will be the first two game played on the Olympic sized ice (200’x100’) at Olympic View Ice Arena. The ice surface the Generals use is substantially smaller than Olympic Ice at 192’x80’.
“Seattle is always a tough opponent, and we have to be at the top of our game this weekend if we want to come away with two wins,” Generals head coach Jay Miller stated. “So far we have battled in three games, and I expect nothing less this weekend. It might be tough for some of our younger players to adjust to the Olympic ice, but I feel the bigger sheet will benefit our team speed.”
The Generals are 12-15 all-time against the Totems in the regular season, and will be looking to improve that record this weekend. The Generals were able to come away with the first two games of the nine game season series in Eugene, but fell in their last meeting with Seattle.
The Generals opened the season with a 7-3 win over the Totems, and backed that up with a 6-4 win the next night. The Generals did fail to win on Sunday, October 18 when the Totems defeated the Generals by a score of 7-5.
The game this Friday at 8:00 PM and the game on Saturday at 7:00 PM at Olympic View Ice Arena will be broadcast in audio only on EGHN. For more information on upcoming games or EGHN please visit eugenegenerals.com.
