Generals 5th Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey Auction Begins Today
Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals 5th Annual Breast Cancer Jersey Auction to benefit the American Cancer Society begins today on eBay at 3:00 PM PST. The jerseys will be worn by the Generals for the Generals 5th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Health & Safety Institute, tomorrow night at 6:35 PM against the Puget Sound Tomahawks.
Over the past four years the Generals have raised more than $15,000 to benefit the fight against breast cancer, and they look to significantly increase that amount with this jersey auction. The Generals now have links on eugenegenerals.com that connect directly to the jersey auction.
“Everybody in our organization, including the players, is extremely excited to be wearing the pink jerseys and supporting a great cause on Friday,” Generals GM Flint Doungchak stated. “Breast cancer affects so many people, and we want to do our part to help fight this terrible disease. The want to strongly encourage any woman over the age of 40, or any woman at increased risk, to get a mammography on Friday, which is National Mammography Day, and come to our game in the evening to support breast cancer awareness.”
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and early detection is incredibly important in defeating breast cancer. Annual mammography screening for women over 40, or earlier for women at increased risk, is the best way to detect breast cancer early. When coupled with new treatment options, mammography screenings can significantly improve a woman’s chance of survival.
Doungchak went on to say, “This will be our fifth year holding the auction and the event, and we have no reason to doubt that this will be our most successful Breast Cancer Awareness Night to date. We have been given great support from the Health & Safety Institute, and we hope the event can raise money and awareness to fight breast cancer.”
