Generals Rebound with Win on Fan Appreciation Night

Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals (37-9) defeated the Seattle Totems (39-7) 7-6 in a thrilling game at Lane Events Center-Ice for Fan Appreciation Night. The Generals suffered their worst loss of the season last night to the Totems, and had lost their last three games to Seattle. The win tonight earned the Generals a season series tie with the Totems, with each team winning two games on the road and two games at home.

“We came out firing tonight, and were able to hold off a late charge by the Totems,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “I would have liked to see us maintain a bigger lead, but it was a great game for the fans. We have a short week before we travel to play the [River City] Jaguars this weekend, and we have to start focusing on them right now.”

The Generals were able to get out to a 5-1 lead early into the second period, but the Totems were able to pull things together in the second and third periods. The Generals spent much of the second and third periods in the penalty box, but were able to hold the Totems at bay to earn the win.

In his last regular season home game with the Generals, Michael Frei was able to put up to goals and add two assists to lead the Generals in scoring. Michael Schlagel and Ryan McDonald each added a goal and an assist, and Carl Lehtola and Kyler Zimick each had two assists. Blake Bishop, Johnathan Isbell and Joe Myers each scored goals in the contest, and Tyler Poulsen, John Strahle and Neil Holder each had an assist. Nolan Ohmart made 32 saves in the win.

The Generals will travel to Beaverton, OR for games this Friday and Saturday at 7:05 against the River City Jaguars. The games will be the last two games for the Generals in the regular season. The Generals will then either play the Jaguars or the Puget Sound Tomahawks in the first round of the 2009 NORPAC Pacific Division Playoffs.

The games against the Jaguars this Friday and Saturday will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
