Generals Upended by Totems

Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals (36-9) were beat by the first place Seattle Totems (39-6) 3-8 tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. The five goal loss is the largest deficit the Generals have been given this season, and the eight goals scored by the Totems tonight is two more goals than any other opponent has put up on the Generals this season. The win secured at least a tie in the eight game season series for the Totems, as they have won the last three meetings.

“We came out much stronger in the first period and in the beginning of the second period than we have the previous two times we faced the Totems, but we didn’t play well to finish out the game,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “The Totems outplayed us today, plain and simple. We can’t expect to win against this team if we don’t play a solid 60 minutes of hockey. We’ll have to dig deep tomorrow if we want to come away with a win.”

Eric Watters was the only General with a multiple point night with a goal and an assist. Ryan McDonald and Joe Myers scored the other two goals, and Michael Frei, John Strahle, Michael Schlagel, Shay Klitzke and Neil Holder each added an assist. Kevin Aslett made 43 saves in the loss.

The Generals will host the Totems tomorrow night at 5:50 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice for Fan Appreciation Night. The game will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games, special event nights or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
