Generals Set Franchise Record with 34th Win
Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals (34-7) set the franchise record for wins in a season tonight when they came away with a 5-1 victory over the Tri-City Titans (18-24) tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals won the season series against the Titans 6-2, and were able to sweep the Titans in Eugene.
“We didn’t play our best hockey tonight, but we were able to come away with the win,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “[Kevin] Aslett played a great game in net, and we were able to capitalize on a few of the opportunities we were given. We have a big game against River City on Tuesday, and we have to start focusing on them right now.”
The Generals started the scoring 1:06 into the first when Carl Lehtola assisted Ryan McDonald. The Titans would make it a 1-1 game 18:29 into the period when Brandon Turley was set up by Damon Hollandsworth and Alec Burks. That would be the last goal the Titans would score, however, as the Generals would get the remaining four goals of the game.
The Generals got on the board again 3:41 into the second when Blake Bishop assisted Michael Schlagel. Eric Watters would make it a 3-1 game 14:40 with an unassisted shorthanded goal. Carl Lehtola would make it 4-1 when Blake Bishop assisted him on the power play 2:32 into the third, and Michael Frei and Blake Bishop assisted Neil Holder on the power play 17:44 into the third to put the final nail in the coffin for the Titans. Kevin Aslett made 41 of a possible 42 saves on the night.
The Generals will host the River City Jaguars on Tuesday at 7:50 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice. The game will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
