Generals Sweep Season Series vs. Coeur d'Alene
Cheney, WA - The Eugene Generals (31-7) defeated the Coeur d'Alene Lakers (9-26) last night in their final regular season meeting 7-2. The Generals outshot the Lakers 42-24 as Nolan Ohmart made 22 saves on the night. The Generals went undefeated in the season series winning all 6 meetings this season. This takes the overall all-time record between the Generals and the Lakers to 15-1.
"Considering we had so many players out of the lineup, I was happy with the performance of the team," commented Head Coach Jay Miller, "we played hard, clean and with discipline." The Generals had several players out of the lineup due to the USA Hockey Select Camp for the State of Oregon that takes place this weekend. Jordan Blake-Jones, Ben Charlson, and Justin Huelsman did not make the trip for the Generals. The Generals were also without the services of Kyler Zimick who is still sidelined due to an injury and is still week to week.
The Generals opened the scoring with a goal by Joe Myers just 1:28 into the game. They would add two more before the end of the period with goals from Michael Frei and Myers second of the night. Frei's goal came shorthanded and was his league leading 12th of the season.
Coeur d'Alene would open up the scoring in the second period with a goal by Tyler Alos at the 6:33 mark. Eugene would add two more goals before the end of the second with additional goals by John Strahle and Michael Frei, his second of the night.
Frei would put up his third goal of the night in the third period, and Michael Schlagel would round out the scoring for the Generals with his 28th goal of the season.
Both Frei and Schlagel had four points on the night. Myers, Mills, Poulsen, Strahle, Lehtola, and McDonald would also have at least a point each on the night.
The Generals continue on to Kennewick, WA to play the Tri-City Titans on Saturday night at 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcast via audio only via GiTV at 6:45 PM. Please visit EugeneGenerals.com for more information.
