Generals Run Over Coeur d'Alene on Oakway Fitness Night
Eugene, OR - The Eugene Generals (25-6) defeated the Coeur d’Alene Lakers (9-21) in a dominating 9-2 performance tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice for Oakway Fitness Night. The Generals were in the penalty box for much of the game, but were able to capitalize on the majority of their five-on-five chances. The Generals have now won all five of their meetings with the Lakers this season, and have only one remaining game against the Lakers this season.
“The outcome of the game was good,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated after the game. “It’s really hard as a coach to experience games like that when focus and game plan go out the window. We came out with the win in the end, and showed some flashes of good hockey. However, we do have some things we need to work on.”
Eleven Generals had points on the night, and six of the players had a multiple point night. Blake Bishop was the only player to have a multiple goal night with two and he added an assist. Carl Lehtola and Ryan McDonald each had a goal and two assists, and John Strahle had three assists in the contest. Tyler Poulsen and Michael Schlagel had a goal and an assist.
Ricky Cigile, Johnathan Isbell and Eric Watters each had a goal on the night, and Michael Frei and Joe Myers each added an assist. Taylor Fant saved 29 of 31 shots to earn his first win in his first appearance with the Generals.
The Generals will travel to Medford, OR this Monday and Tuesday to face the Rogue Valley Wranglers at 7:35 PM. The games will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
