Generals Continue Streak, Down Seattle in 2OT

Eugene, OR - The NORPAC Pacific Division co-leader Eugene Generals (19-3) defeated the co-leader Seattle Totems (19-3) 3-2 in the second overtime tonight at Lane Events Center-Ice. The win pushes the Generals franchise record winning streak to 12, and gives the Generals a 2-1 advantage over the Totems in the eight game season series. The Generals are now 3-0 in overtime games this season.

“Our defense didn’t play well at all in the first period, but stepped it up from there on out,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated. “We didn’t play as well as we could have on defense, but it was enough to get us the win. The games between us and Seattle are always battles, and tonight’s game didn’t disappoint. We have to carry this momentum into next weekend’s games against Tri-City.”

The Totems started the scoring 3:23 into the first period when John Dennis and Jake Rademacher assisted Shawn Pauly. The Generals would answer back 1:14 into the second as Kyler Zimick and Ryan McDonald assisted Kyle Mills.

Mills would get his second goal of the night 9:56 into the second with the assist going to Eric Watters to give the Generals a 2-1 lead. Spencer Galvin would tie the game at two on the power play, and Kjell Sherman and Tanner Schulze would get the assists with 13:03 into the second.

No scoring would occur in the third period or the first overtime, but McDonald and Carl Lehtola would assist Kyle Mills 2:10 into the second overtime period to give Mills a hat trick and the Generals a win. Kevin Aslett continued his stellar play saving 60 of 62 shot Seattle fired on net.

The Generals will travel to Kennewick, WA this weekend for Friday and Saturday games against the Tri-City Titans at 7:05 PM. The games will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
