Generals Outscore Jags and Titans 28-12 in Three
Eugene, OR - In three games this weekend, the NORPAC Pacific Division leading Eugene Generals (16-3) outscored the River City Jaguars (7-8) and the Tri-City Titans (4-14) by a combined score of 28-12. The Generals defeated the Jaguars in Beaverton, OR 5-2 on Friday, and 14-4 on Saturday. The Generals made a quick trip up to Kennewick, WA for a Sunday game against the Titans, and were able to come away with a 9-6 victory.
“I’m really happy with the outcomes of the games this weekend, but I don’t believe we are playing our best hockey,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated. “We gave up a combined ten goals in two games, and we don’t want to win games by simply outscoring the other team. Our next few games are going to be really tough, and we have to start playing better defensively.”
Michael Frei led the Generals in points this weekend with 13, and has now moved into sole possession of the points lead in NORPAC with 45. Michael Schlagel and Tyler Poulsen each had seven points in the weekend, Kyle Mills had six points, Carl Lehtola had five points and Blake Bishop had four points. Sean O’Connor, Kyler Zimick and Jordan Blake-Jones each had three points in the three game swing, and Joe Myers, Ian Evans and Ryan McDonald each had two points. John Strahle, John Mullin, Ben Charlson, Neil Holder and Eric Watters each had a point on the weekend.
Tyler Poulsen and Jordan Blake-Jones each scored their first goals of their Junior careers during the 14-4 win over the River City Jaguars on Saturday night in Beaverton, OR.
The three wins this weekend moves the Generals to first place in the Pacific Division, with the Seattle Totems trailing by two points with a game in hand. The move to first marks the first time the Generals have held sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division since the 2005/06 season.
The Generals will travel to Bremerton, WA this weekend to conclude their seven game road swing against the Puget Sound Tomahawks (9-9) this Friday and Saturday. The games will be broadcast on GiTV in audio only. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
