Generals Win Secures Tie with Coeur d'Alene
Post Falls, ID - The Eugene Generals (13-3) secured at least a tie with the Coeur d’Alene Lakers (5-10) in their six game season series when they defeated the Lakers 7-3 at KYRO Ice Arena in Post Falls, ID. The contest was their third meeting of the season, and the Generals have come away with the victory in all three games.
“We let the Lakers score first, but overall I think we played better in the first period tonight,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated. “We were able to win the second and third periods, and finished very strong for the second night in a row. We have to get off to a quicker start on the road, but I like how we’re finishing games right now.”
Ryan McDonald led the Generals with a goal and two assists, and Carl Lehtola and Michael Schlagel each had two goals on the night. Tyler Poulsen had two assists, and Kyle Mills and Michael Frei each had a goal in the contest. Kevin Aslett saved 38 of 41 shots in the win.
The sweep of the Coeur d’Alene Lakers this weekend gets the Generals off to a hot start in their seven game road swing. Of the Generals next 15 games 13 will be on the road. The Generals will travel to Beaverton, OR for games next Friday and Saturday against the River City Jaguars, and will travel to Kennewick, WA for a game on Sunday against the Tri-City Titans.
