Generals 4th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night is Friday

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals 4th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Prime Med Medical Clinic will be held Friday, October 17, 2008 when the Generals (4-2) face the Tri-City Titans (1-3) at Lane Events Center-Ice at 7:35 PM. The Generals will wear limited edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off on eBay to benefit the American Cancer Society. The Generals will also give $2.00 from every ticket sold to the American Cancer Society to benefit their fight against Breast Cancer.

“Everybody in our organization, including the players, is extremely excited to be wearing pink jerseys and supporting a great cause on Friday,” Generals GM Flint Doungchak stated. “Breast cancer affects so many people, and we want to do our part to help fight this terrible disease. The Generals encourage any woman over 40, or at increased risk, to get a mammography on Friday, which is National Mammography Day, and come to our game in the evening to support breast cancer awareness.”

Doungchak went on to say, “This will be our fourth year holding the auction and the event, and we have no reason to doubt that this will be our most successful Breast Cancer Awareness Night to date. For the second year in a row we have been given great support from the event from Prime Med Medical Clinic, and we hope the event can raise money and awareness to fight breast cancer.”

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and early detection is incredibly important in defeating breast cancer. Annual mammography screening for women over 40, ore earlier for women at increased risk, is the best way to detect breast cancer early. When coupled with new treatment options, mammography screenings can significantly improve a woman’s chance of survival.

The pink jerseys will be auctioned off on eBay starting Thursday, with the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. The Generals have donated over $10,000 to the American Cancer Society in the past four years, and hope to be able to significantly increase that amount this year.

The games against the Tri-City Titans this Friday and Saturday at 7:35 PM at Lane Events Center-Ice will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games, special event nights, the jersey auction or GiTV please visit eugenegenerals.com.
