Generals to Travel to Puget Sound for First Road Trip
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (3-1) will travel to Bremerton, WA tomorrow to face the Puget Sound Tomahawks (1-3) tomorrow and Friday for the Generals first road games of the season. This will be the second consecutive weekend the Generals have faced the Tomahawks. The Generals split two games with the Tomahawks (a 2-3 loss on Friday and a 3-1 win on Saturday) this past weekend at Lane Events Center-Ice.
“We have to play our game and stick to our systems this weekend,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated. “Puget Sound is a talented team, and if we get away from what we are supposed to do they will take advantage of that. We’re getting better every time we’re on the ice, but we have to stay focused and give 100% effort to win.”
One area where the Generals have really excelled is special teams. Throughout the Generals first four games of the season they have scored eight times on the power play and scored four shorthanded goals. On the reverse side of things, the Generals have given up only one power play goal and one shorthanded goal through the first four games.
The Generals have also gotten stellar goaltending in their first four games. Kevin Aslett is second in the league in minutes played (180), and third in the league in save percentage (.930) among goaltenders who have played at least one game. Nolan Ohmart, who has played one game, is second in the league in save percentage (.966). The Generals defense and goaltenders should also be proud to hold the league leading spot for goals against (6).
The games this Thursday and Friday in Bremerton, WA at 7:35 PM will be broadcast on GiTV. For more information on upcoming games or GiTV please visit Eugene Generals.com.
