Generals Announce 2008/09 Roster
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals announced their roster for the 2008/09 NORPAC Regular Season earlier today. The announcement followed the Generals highly successful 2008 Main Camp. The Generals had 61 players registered for Main Camp, 23 of which were signed to a contract on Monday. Training Camp will begin on Saturday for the 23 players in preparation for Opening Night on Friday, September 26 against the Rogue Valley Wranglers.
“I feel this was the hardest camp we’ve held yet, which has yielded some of the hardest working players who have ever been on our roster,” Generals Head Coach Jay Miller stated. “After a week of watching these players work for themselves I’m excited to see how they will come together as a team.”
John “BJ” Mullin, an 18 year old rookie forward from Paso Robles, CA, had this to say about camp and making the team, “The camp was really tough. I think the first day was the hardest, but I had an idea of what to expect from camp because Coach Miller explained it to me at Globals BC this summer. In my opinion camp went really well. I think everybody worked really hard, and everybody who made the team earned their spot. I’m excited about making the team, I’m excited to be here in Eugene and I’m excited about the coming year.”
The Generals have 10 returning players and 13 first year Junior players. The returning players are: Kevin Aslett, Ian Evans, Duston Fender, Neil Holder, Trevor McCarty, Kyle Mills, Joe Myers, Sean O’Connor, Nolan Ohmart and John Strahle. The first year Junior players are: Blake Bishop, Jordan Blake-Jones, Ben Charleson, Ricky Cigile, Jonathan Isbell, Carl Lehtola, Cody Levitan, Ryan McDonald, BJ Mullin, Tyler Poulsen, Michael Schlagel, Eric Watters and Kyler Zimick. As of right now the Generals have three 20 year old players on the team, and for the first time in franchise history the Generals have signed a 15 year old player.
