Generals Alaska Open Camp in Full Swing

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals Open Camp is well underway and will reach an end this afternoon in Anchorage, AK. The Generals had a good turnout of young talent throughout the state of Alaska; a state where they have found a great amount of talent throughout the years. This year looks to be no different as the Generals are looking to find young talent around the country, and Alaska has that talent.

“So far, the camp is looking good, we’re pleased with the skill level and excited for the final game today,” Generals interim Head Coach Jay Miller stated.

“There are some pretty good young players in attendance this year,” Generals returnee and Alaska native Kyle Mills said of the camp. “The camp has been pretty intense and competitive which is nice to see since all of these kids are fighting for a spot at Main Camp.”

There are 40 players in attendance ranging from ages 14-19 vying for an invite to the Generals Main Camp which is to be held August 19th-24th.

Generals’ hopefuls Travis Buckmeier and Sam Olson had this to say about the camp, “There’s a lot of skill at this camp and the players are all energetic on the ice which makes the games more competitive,” Buckmeier stated. “I really like the dryland, the drills we do can be incorporated into skills on the ice,” Olson added. “There’s also a good amount of kids at camp with talent which helps everyone get quality ice time.”

Selected players will be invited to the Generals Main Camp later this afternoon after the final scrimmage. Players invited will go through a grueling tryout in order to fight for a spot on the Generals roster this season.
