MacDonald to be Generals Trainer
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals announced Dr. Garreth MacDonald of Cascade Health Center as the Generals trainer today. The Generals feel the addition of Dr. MacDonald is taking a step forward with injury care and prevention, which should make the Generals even stronger on the ice.
“Dr. MacDonald is the perfect fit for the Generals,” Generals GM Flint Doungchak stated. “Our goal is to develop the best athletes possible. A large part of that puzzle is injury management, both in terms of prevention and post-injury methodologies. The first part of being the best hockey player is being a superior athlete and Dr. MacDonald brings to our franchise synergistic qualities which allow us to do that.”
Doungchak went on to say, “We're in the business of developing hockey players and that development now includes much more than on-ice skills. It's now nutritional knowledge, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. And the people responsible for that development are truly passionate about what they do. I'm excited for what this means for our players.”
Dr. MacDonald also feels like this is a great opportunity. “I’ve been around hockey all my life,” Dr. MacDonald said. “Since I’m in the medical profession it just seemed like a logical fit.”
“My goal is to prevent injuries,” Dr. MacDonald stated. “I plan to do that by working in coordination with Head Coach Chris Hartly, Assistant Coach Jay Miller and the Strength and Conditioning Coach Chantelle Russell. I’ll collaborate with them in order to create the best methods to prevent injuries. When injuries do occur, we will provide management from different levels, in terms of technologies and rehabilitation, to get the players back into working order quicker.”
“The Generals will also have use of Cascade Health Center,” Dr. MacDonald exclaimed. “We take a different approach to managing injures at Cascade Health Center. We offer the latest technology such as laser treatment. It is quick, painless and offers superior results. Plus, hockey is a mechanical game and along with that comes mechanical injuries which require mechanical fixes. We offer those mechanical fixes with chiropractic services. Our chiropractic services fix structural or mechanical problems, which will be a great benefit to the Generals.”
The addition of Dr MacDonald is the latest step for the Generals in their pursuit of excellence. For more information on Generals staff members please visit eugenegenerals.com.
