Romero's Fourth is a Gem

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals (28-11) defeated the Tri-City Titans (19-20) tonight 7-5 at Lane Events Center-Ice. The Generals didn’t play as strong tonight, but Lucas Romero, in his fourth game for the Generals, recorded three goals and one assist. In Romero’s four games, he now has six goals and two assists. “We didn’t play with much interest tonight, but we still came out on top, and that’s the most important thing,” Generals Head Coach Robert Freeland stated. “Romero was hot tonight. He was seeing the net really well, and he gave our team the boost they needed.”

Troy Mytinger added a goal and an assist, and so did Michael Frei. Kris Kranzky had three assists in the 7-5 victory. Ben Tikka had one goal and two assists in the game. Generals Captain Ryan Schank scored one goal in the game, and Brad Meyers and Larry Dankenbring added two and one assists, respectively. Lucas Romero was definitely the story of they game, scoring twice in pivotal spots in the game, and adding one more on the empty net to give the Generals a two goal cushion with less than a minute to play in the game.

Goaltending wasn’t as strong tonight for the Generals, but Brent Seidel still made critical saves late in the game, and stopped 28 of 33 shots. The Titans started Kris North, and he was able to stop 39 of 46 shots, but not able to come away with the win. The Generals will have three games next weekend, two against the Puget Sound Tomahawks and one against the River City Jaguars.
