Generals Look to Extend Western Division Lead

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals will make the trek to Spokane, WA tomorrow to face the Spokane Flyers. The first place Generals, who are coming off three consecutive wins against the 8-12 River City Jaguars, will look to extend their eight point lead in NOR-PAC’s Western Division. The Generals will have to dig deep to defeat their Eastern Division foes. The Flyers are currently in a three way battle with Queen City and Coeur d’Alene for second place in the NOR-PAC Eastern Division.

Generals Head Coach Robert Freeland expects the Flyers, who split with the Coeur d’Alene Colts last weekend, will be a tough match for the Generals. “The Flyers average more than 40 shots a game,” Freeland stated. “Our guys are going to have to play smart defense, and make our opportunities count.” The Eugene Generals have made their opportunities count in their previous 17 games. The Generals boast the highest shot percentage in the league (.175). The next team in line is the Fort Vancouver Pioneers who have a .141 shot percentage.

If history repeats, Eugene should get plenty of chances in the series. The Generals are third in the league in shots per game (behind Fort Vancouver and Bozeman). The Generals average 41 shots per game, and the Flyers are sixth in NOR-PAC allowing 37 shots per game. For more information on upcoming Eugene Generals games please visit www.eugenegenerals.com.
