Generals Tame the Jags
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals crushed the River City Jaguars tonight at Valley Ice Arena 9-2. After losing the first of four against the Jaguars, the Generals finished strong in the series outscoring River City 20-3 in the final three games of the series. The win tonight gives the Generals a commanding eight point lead over the second place Puget Sound Tomahawks in the NOR-PAC Western Division. The win also moves the Generals past the Bozeman Blackhawks in the NOR-PAC standings.
The Generals dominated every aspect of the game. The Generals out shot River City 28-6 in the final period, and out shot them 58-27 for the entire game. “Our guys took care of business tonight,” Head Coach Robert Freeland stated. “When the Jags got away from their game play our guys went for the kill, and pumped in goal after goal.” Generals Captain Ryan Schank was a huge part of the Generals success scoring three goals, and assisting two more. “I’m just happy to get the win,” Schank said. “It doesn’t matter how many points I get, if our team doesn’t come out on top I’m not satisfied.” Generals Assistant Captain Ben Tikka scored two goals and had two assists, and Trevor Johnson added four assists.
The Generals will look to maintain their grip on NOR-PAC next weekend when they travel to Spokane, WA to take on the second place Flyers of the Eastern Division. “Next weekend is the beginning of two difficult months for the team,” Coach Freeland said. “We have to focus on one game at a time, and play like we know we can.” For more information on upcoming Generals games please visit www.eugenegenerals.com.
