Generals Open at Home Against Fort Vancouver
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Generals will play their inaugural game tomorrow night at 7:35 against perennial powerhouse Fort Vancouver Pioneers. The game will be the first of 22 home games for the Generals, and the first of 44 for NOR-PAC regular season play. The Generals are coming off a tough loss in double overtime against the Tri-City Titans in the Pre-Season Kickoff Tournament.
The Generals opponent for Opening Night is the 2004 NOR-PAC Champion Fort Vancouver Pioneers. The Pioneers had the second best NOR-PAC regular season record last year, but they lost in the first round of the playoffs against the Tri-City Titans. The Pioneers are also coming off of a dominating performance in the Pre-Season Kickoff Tournament, where they defeated the Tri-City Titans 6-5 in overtime. “The Pioneers will be very tough,” Head Coach Robert Freeland stated. “The Pios have their leading scorer from the last two years returning for his third year, and they’ve picked up a lot of solid players during the off-season.”
The gates open at 6:30, with warm-ups starting at 7:00, and Opening Night festivities commencing at 7:30. Opening Night festivities include a complete announcement of the Generals roster, a special rendition of the National Anthem by the critically acclaimed a cappella group “On the Rocks”, and a ceremonial puck drop.
