Generals Take the Ice for NOR-PAC Pre-Season Kickoff Tournament
Eugene, OR – This weekend, September 9-11, the Eugene Generals will get the opportunity to gauge some of their Western Division foes in the NOR-PAC Pre-Season Kickoff Tournament. This is the first time the Generals will take the ice as a team in competition. The Generals will be playing a guaranteed four games with a possibility of a fifth if they play themselves into the championship game.
The Pre-Season Kickoff Tournament will host five teams from NOR PAC: River City Jaguars, Tri-City Titans, Puget Sound Tomahawks, Fort Vancouver Pioneers, and your Eugene Generals. The sixth team in the tournament is the Idaho Rattlers from the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). “This tournament will allow us to learn a lot about how the team handles themselves in competition,” Head Coach Robert Freeland stated. “Aside from that we will be able to examine a wide array of teams from the Western Division, as well as how the NOR-PAC stacks up against the WSHL.”
The pre-season action begins as the Generals open up against the River City Jaguars, who finished fourth in the Western Division last year with a record of 10 wins, 29 losses, and 1 tie, Friday, September 9th at 1:00 PM at Mt. View Ice Arena in Vancouver, Washington. The Generals second game will be against the Idaho Rattlers, who finished fifth in the Western Division of the WSHL, Saturday, September 10th at 1:00 PM. The final game of round robin play for the Generals will be against the defending NOR PAC Western Division Champion Puget Sound Tomahawks, Saturday evening at 7:15. The Generals players control their own destiny in determining their next game. The top four teams in the tournament will continue to the semi-finals on Sunday. The fifth place game will take place on Sunday at 10:00 AM.
