Alaskan Defenseman Tyler MacMillan Picks Eugene

Eugene, OR – A little over a month before their Inaugural Season Tryout Camp, the Generals fill a crucial position by tendering their fourth Alaskan, Tyler MacMillan.

Last year MacMillan was a pivotal defenseman for the U-16 AAA Anchorage North Stars where he had 1 goal, 10 assists, and a plus minus of 20. Besides being an outstanding defenseman, Tyler is also an excellent student. MacMillan is currently maintaining a 3.8 GPA and recently scored a 2100, out of 2400, on the SATs.

The 17-year-old MacMillan was scouted at the Global Sports Scouting Showcase in Langley, BC by Generals Head Coach Robert Freeland. “Tyler fills a much needed spot for us,” explained Freeland. “He’s big, fast, and a tenacious on-the-puck defender.”

“I’m really excited about starting my Junior Hockey career in Eugene, and I hope I can exceed the expectations of Coach Freeland. I really look forward to playing for him. It’s a great opportunity,” MacMillan stated. “I love the fact that I’m the fourth Alaskan to be tendered by the Generals. Alaskan hockey players have a certain style, and I think that style can really shine at the Junior B level.”

As a tender, MacMillan is guaranteed a spot on the opening night roster. For more information on Tyler MacMillan and other tenders, visit www.eugenegenerals.com.
