Player Spotlight- #32 Nolan Ohmart
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer

Eugene, OR-

Chris Bilder: This is your second season with the Generals. What are the differences you’ve noticed from last season’s team to this season’s team?

Nolan Ohmart: I think everybody works harder, and wants to put in the effort. Everybody gets along better as well.

CB: What are the differences in your game from last season to this season?

NO: I’d say I feel faster, and I make smarter plays. I’m more confident this season.

CB: What is it like to play for the Generals after growing up in Eugene and starting your hockey career with LAHA (Lane Amateur Hockey Association)?

NO: It’s really rewarding because I’ve watched Junior hockey in this town for most of my life, and its really fun to be a part of it. It’s also really rewarding because I’ve worked really hard to get to this point.

CB: You have the second best GAA in the Pacific Division (only trailing your teammate Kevin Aslett), the third best SV% in the Pacific Division, and you are tied for second in wins. How do you feel about how you’ve played thus far into the season?

NO: I think I’ve played well, but I haven’t been consistent enough. I feel strong and ready to keep proving myself in the upcoming games.

CB: What areas of your game would you like to improve before the end of the season?

NO: I would say rebound control, and low blocker shots in general.

CB: What are your statistical goals for the season?

NO: Have over .910 SV%, and have a winning record against teams with winning records.

CB: The Generals travel to Coeur d’Alene this weekend, and you’re the only Generals goaltender to face the Lakers this season (24 saves on 25 shots in a 2-1 win). Describe how the Lakers play, and what do the Generals need to do to come away with two wins?

NO: They are a very quick team, but I think we’re overall a better team. The problem we have is that they can surprise us. We have to keep the pressure on them offensively, but stay defensive minded.

CB: What has been your favorite moment, or favorite game, this season, and why?

NO: I think it would probably be the Seattle game, because I didn’t play them last year and they had the best record. It felt good to play an opponent like them. Even though we lost I felt I played well, and it felt good to play that level of hockey.

CB: Describe your ideal season.

NO: Going to Nationals.

CB: Where do you see yourself next year, and where do you see yourself after your Junior career is over?

NO: Next year I’d like to play in the NAHL or come back here. After that I want to play D III hockey and study engineering.
