Player Spotlight- #14 John Mullin
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer
Eugene, OR-
Chris Bilder: How has the season gone so far?
John Mullin: It’s gone well. I think I’ve seen a lot of improvement as an individual, and the team is developing really well as well.
CB: Describe your experience with the Generals.
JM: It’s been a lot of fun. It’s a lot of hard work, but at the same time when everybody is working hard everybody is having a good time. There’s never a dull moment.
CB: In your first 30 games with the Generals you had four points, and in your last five games you’ve put up five points including your first two goals of the season. What has changed in your last five games that has allowed you to put up points?
JM: Coach asked us as a line to start putting up points. I’ve been focusing a little more on getting the puck to the net.
CB: How big of a weight was lifted off of your shoulders when you scored your first goal against Rogue Valley earlier this month?
JM: A huge weight. It was just a big relief, and it helped me to settle down. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep putting up points.
CB: In your opinion, what is the best aspect of your game?
JM: I’d say my physical play.
CB: In your opinion, what is the aspect of your game that needs the most work?
JM: One area I really want to improve on is my playmaking skills. I want to do a better job at keeping the puck in the offensive zone and creating some offensive opportunities.
CB: What has been your favorite moment this season?
JM: Probably when [Tyler] Morgan got hit with the puck in the groin three times in a row in practice. Everybody was laughing.
CB: What is the hardest team to face for you, and what is the hardest team to face for the team?
JM: I’d say Seattle for both. They’re pretty big and physical, and they can move the puck really well also. They’re a tough team for anybody to face.
CB: How far do you expect this team to go in the playoffs?
JM: Well I expect us to win. I think we have the talent and the determination. It’s the common goal for everybody on the team. I think we all expect to win.
CB: What are your plans for next season?
JM: Well I hope to return here next season. I think it would be the best thing for me to help me keep developing, and I really like it here also.
