Player Spotlight- #12 Johnathon Isbell
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer

Eugene, OR-

Chris Bilder: You were one of the Generals tenders this season. How did the first half of the season go for you?

Johnathon Isbell: I think it’s gone really well. I’m having a lot of fun, and I think I’ve contributed when I’ve been asked to and needed to. For the highest level of hockey I’ve ever played I feel like I’ve held my own.

CB: How would you describe your Junior hockey experience so far?

JI: This is my first year playing Juniors, and I’m loving it. I’m loving the speed and the physical play. This is the first time I’ve experienced this level of hockey and its atmosphere.

CB: What have been your favorite on-ice and off-ice moments with the Generals this season?

JI: My favorite off-ice experience is living in Harrisburg with Jayne and the Harrisburg boys. I couldn’t have asked for a better billet moment. My favorite on-ice experience would probably both of the overtime games against Seattle, because those rival games are the most experience.

CB: What have been the most difficult on-ice and off-ice moments this season?

JI: The most difficult off-ice moment would be the getting in shape portion of tryout camp. The most difficult on-ice moment was tripping at the blue-line when I had a breakaway and I already had two goals in the game.

CB: Where do you see yourself next season?

JI: Back here playing as a bigger and better contributor.

CB: You’re one of three players to play for the Generals from Arizona. Do you see more Arizona players coming to the Generals in years to come?

JI: Definitely. The hockey in Arizona has been growing, and it seems to be getting bigger and better year after year.

CB: You have 8 points in 24 games this season. Are you happy with your production?

JI: No. I feel like I should be putting more points up, and being more physical. I’ve seen myself progressing to where I want to be recently.

CB: You have three multiple point games this season, and it seems like if you put up a point in a game there is at least one more to follow. What are the reasons for that?

JI: I think it comes down to opportunity and ice time. I feel like I could produce more if I can get into the flow of the game.

CB: How did it feel to get a goal and an assist in the 6-0 game against River City on Monday?

JI: It felt really good because the points seemed to come at moments when River City thought they could come back and win the game.

CB: What does the team need to do to come away with two wins against Seattle this weekend?

JI: I think we need to show up ready to play mentally, relax and just play our game. We have the strategy and speed to walk all over Seattle.
