Player Spotlight- Former LAHA Players
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer

Eugene, OR-

Chris Bilder: What is the biggest difference between the Generals and your former team?

Nick Maynes: We practice a lot more.

Duston Fender: Harder work ethic and more drive.

Nate Schursky: This team wins (laughing). Seriously, everybody takes it a little more seriously and everybody has a little more desire.

CB: What is one thing the Generals do better than your former team?

NM: The Generals organization is a lot more organized, but there’s a lot more than just one thing that Generals are better than the Totems.

DF: The practices are better, and we have better preparation.

NS: We move up and down the ice as a unit, and execute the systems a lot better.

CB: What is one thing your former team does better than the Generals?

NM: They had this one facility that was pretty cool. We had unlimited access to synthetic ice.

DF: I would say that we were more known in the community down there in the beginning.

CB: How would you describe your experience with the Generals so far this season?

NM: It’s been a lot more evolved so I can improve more.

DF: It’s been really good. Everybody’s here for the same reason, which is to win.

NS: It’s exciting. I’ve been accepted by the team right away, and we’re making a big run at Nationals right now.

CB: What was your best moment this season with your former team?

NM: Winning against Eugene.

DF: Playing in front of the home fans first time.

NS: Giving an expansion team their first win.

CB: What has been your best moment with the Generals this season?

NM: I was glad to get my first win two weeks ago against Puget Sound.

DF: Beating Seattle both games at home.

NS: I don’t know. There’s too many to choose from.

CB: Where do you hope to be at this time next year?

NM: Playing in Fairbanks for the Ice Dogs.

DF: Playing here again.

NS: Playing NCAA college hockey.

CB: Do you think the Generals organization is doing an adequate job of getting you to your goal?

NM: Yes, they give me the opportunity, and if I work hard I can achieve my goal.

DF: Yes, they’re helping me to get better at this level so I can be a leader next year.

NS: Yes, they’re developing my skills, and focusing the finer areas of my game.

CB: What are your goals for the rest of the season?

NM: Go to Boston, and come back to win the Cascade Cup.

DF: Beat Seattle the next four games, and go to Nationals.

NS: Finishing off the regular season with 30 goals and 20 assists for at least 50 points, and getting a Junior Championship under my belt.

CB: How far do you think this team can go in the postseason?

NM: All the way for sure.

DF: I definitely think that we can go all the way to Nationals, and I think we have a great chance at taking the Cascade Cup this year.

NS: I think we can go all the way. Seattle and we play two different types of games, and I think we can definitely beat them.
