Player Spotlight- #8 Ian Evans
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer

Eugene, OR-

Chris Bilder: This is your third year with the Generals. What has been your favorite season?

Ian Evans: I think this season has been my favorite because the team has bonded pretty well, and I like everyone, and I’m doing pretty well right now.

CB: What is it like playing Junior hockey in your home town?

IE: Its nice being able to stay at my own house and play Juniors at the same time.

CB: You had 9 points in 38 games last season, and 13 points in 19 games this season. What has changed on the ice for you this season?

IE: I think the chemistry with my line has changed. I’m getting injured less, and that has helped with my confidence.

CB: You are only 5 points short of your career high in points. What would it mean to you to set a career high this season?

IE: It would mean a lot because I haven’t gotten that many points in the last couple of years, and its nice to be able to contribute to the team in that way.

CB: What are your goals for this season?

IE: One is that I would like to set a career high in points, also I would like to be a player who can be put on the ice without the coach being afraid that I’m going to get scored on.

CB: You have now played 101 games as a member of the Generals, which puts you in the top 5 all-time for the Generals. Is there one game that stands out for you?

IE: The one that I remember most would be my first exhibition game in my first season. I scored in that game, and it just sticks in my memory.

CB: What is the one area of your game that most benefits the team?

IE: I think my intelligence to play systems. I’m not exactly the fastest player, so I have to make up for that with my intelligence on the ice.

CB: What has been your favorite moment as a member of the Generals?

IE: I have no idea. I’ve had a lot of fun on this team, and there’s not really one that sticks out.

CB: The Generals play the Puget Sound Tomahawks five times in a row starting this Friday. What are the benefits and drawbacks of playing a team five times in a row?

IE: The benefit is that you learn how the other team plays after the first couple of games, and you can key up on the way they play. The drawback is that they can learn how we play, and key up on our systems and the way we play.

CB: What do the Generals need to do to beat the Tomahawks this weekend?

IE: We need to play our systems, and not let ourselves get caught up in what the other team is doing. When we do that we tend to fall away from what we need to do to win.
