Player Spotlight- #22 Jordan Blake-Jones
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer

Eugene, OR-

Chris Bilder: This is your second season with the Generals, and you have moved up the depth chart dramatically since the beginning of last season. What would you attribute your development to?

Jordan Blake-Jones: I’ve been doing a lot of off-ice work during the off-season, I’ve been in the gym, and I was on the ice as much as I could have been during the summer.

CB: What areas of your game have improved the most since last season?

JBJ: My speed, my passing and shooting, and my vision on the ice. My physical play has also improved a lot.

CB: What are some areas you would like to improve?

JBJ: Well, basically all the things I mentioned above, they could all get better.

CB: What are your goals for the season?

JBJ: I want to at least double my point production from last season, I want to average 7 hits a game, and I want to be close to the top of the team for plus/minus.

CB: You come from a hockey family. Your father has played hockey his entire life, and both of your younger brothers play hockey. Describe what coming from a hockey family means to you.

JBJ: Its really nice to have your family be really involved in the sport you love to play. Its also great to have parents when you’re growing up not minding driving you to the rink for those 6:00 AM games. Its also nice coming home and seeing hockey games on the TV. Our entire family’s life basically revolves around hockey.

CB: What has been your favorite hockey moment?

JBJ: Probably playing my first Junior game last season, because I got to be involved in a higher level of hockey and we won the game.

CB: What are your hockey goals?

JBJ: I want to play at the highest level of hockey I can in Juniors, then hopefully after that play college hockey.

CB: Describe yourself as a hockey player.

JBJ: I’m more of a stay-at-home defenseman, who can move the puck when needed, and can take the body and clear out the front of the net so the goalie can see.

CB: What does it mean to you to play in front of your hometown fans?

JBJ: I love being able to play in Eugene when its not a very big hockey community, but its growing. Its nice to see my friends and family in the stands at every game, and its nice to have my dad be the PA announcer for the team. Its also just nice to be able to play where I grew up.

CB: You are playing the River City Jaguars this weekend, which is the team that bumped you from the playoffs last season. Is there a revenge factor at all for you heading into the games this weekend?

JBJ: There definitely is a revenge factor. Nobody likes to get bumped out of the playoffs, and for us to get bumped out like we did last year, everybody in the locker room wants to send a message that it was a fluke and we should have made it further.
