Player Spotlight- #33 Kevin Aslett
by Chris Bilder, Generals Staff Writer
Eugene, OR-
Chris Bilder: How would you compare your game from last season to this season?
Kevin Aslett: Greatly improved. Over the summer I worked on my quickness and reaction time. Definitely my whole game is a lot better, especially my glove.
CB: How would you compare the team from last season to this season?
KA: I think that this season our team meshes a lot better, we have a lot more chemistry and we work a lot harder.
CB: What did you do over the off-season to prepare for this season?
KA: I basically went to a few goaltending camps, and I also went through a regimented workout with Chantelle [Russell] for weight training, agility and speed training. I hit the gym three times a week, went running four times a week and was on the ice five times a week.
CB: You lead the league in wins, and you lead the division in GAA and SV%. What would you credit for your numbers this season?
KA: I have to credit my defense. Our defense is a lot better this year, and I also have a lot more confidence in net. My skills are better, but I have a lot more confidence.
CB: Are you satisfied with your play?
KA: I’m never satisfied with my play. I always think I can do better, and I always push myself to play better. I do feel that I’ve played well, though.
CB: What is one area in your game that you would like to work on?
KA: Playing the puck. I need to work on my shot power, and getting more confidence playing the puck outside of the crease.
CB: What do you feel is the strongest area of your game?
KA: Probably my quickness and my ability to recover.
CB: What are your goals for the season?
KA: To go to Nationals, and lead the league in SV% and minutes played.
CB: How did it feel to get your first shutout of your Junior career last Friday against Puget Sound?
KA: It was a great feeling. It’s hard to explain. I felt I should have had a shutout earlier in the year. It was just a great feeling especially after getting jinxed by Isbell in the second period.
CB: Where do you see yourself next season?
KA: Playing college hockey at either a Div III or Div II program.
